Day 1 - June 8th
How to make a sustainable energy transition happen, today?
09 a.m. - 10 a.m. Mexico / 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Brazil
A properly designed and implemented energy transition will facilitate progress for most countries and, therefore, be a decisive factor to reduce tensions between nations while accelerating prosperity, generating jobs, improving equity and sustainability.
This session intends to explore how changing energy relations will impact country efforts to decarbonize while ensuring energy security in Latin America. Will regional, bilateral and public-private collaboration ultimately help make countries energy-independent? What role will Latin America play in the new global energy scenario that is emerging?
Moderator:
Panelists:
André Clark - Senior Vice President Hub Latin America (Siemens Energy)
Christopher Garman - Managing Director for the Americas (Eurasia)
12 p.m. - 01 p.m. Mexico / 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Brazil
With unprecedented exposure to the impact of climate change in the region, the public and private sectors must accelerate decarbonization to improve and ensure sustainable living conditions for local societies.
How can governments and big companies undergo a complex and massive transformation, leveraging on pragmatic opportunities (e.g., Energy Efficiency, Fuel Shift)? Can these challenges be quickly deployed as realistic and impactful steps towards the desired long-term deep-decarbonization?

What does it take to design a successful energy future for Latin America?
09 a.m. - 10 a.m. Mexico / 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Brazil
Grid operators are faced with new challenges and an ever-increasing grid complexity, as more countries embrace renewables to satisfy growing demand while honoring climate-change commitments.
How intelligent interconnected grids can represent an opportunity to transport energy across countries, allowing access to multiple sources, increasing grid stability, enhancing resilience and, therefore, augmenting regional energy security.
Panelists:
Juan Ricardo Ortega - CEO (Grupo de Energía de Bogota)
Marcio Szechtman - Director of Transmission (Eletrobras)
